A connected washingtonian friend of mine tells me that the 12 bipartisan group of senators who are looking for a solution to the nuke option have come up with a solution. They will vote for cloture and agree among themselves to vote for or against a particular nominee as a group. Friend thinks they will get the 60 votes for cloture and be able to vote some of the bush appointees down this way, thus a grand compromise. He also said Bush would get one of the two women nominees now in dispute. He had no idea which. So in this scenario, filibuster stays but some bush judges go down.
