They can lie about what's happening overseas, but they can only claim we've "turned the corner" economically for so long. People KNOW whether they have a job, are over their heads in debt and whether things are getting better. The flows of foreign capital are slowing, Alan's worried about the RE bubble, GM is headed for bankruptcy and Bush wants to make his tax cuts and defict PERMANENT. Something's gotta give.
