"Those 70 judges with their debates would have wasted considerable Senate time."

Gee... then why BOTHER with Constitutional 'advise and concent' at all?????

Just do away with the necessity for Congressional approval entirely... and just have some neo-Dictator appoint the entire Judiciary directly --- like in some Bananna Republic --- or, like Putin is doing in Russia.

And, I guess while he's at it, he can go ahead and appoint all the Governors too... just like Putin.

(And, Hell... as far as 'wasted time', the more congress slows down the better I like it! It's when they rush things through that they screw up the *most* --- like with the so-called 'Patriot Act', rushed through in the middle of the night and NOT ONE CONGRESSPERSON even got to read it before they voted on it....)

"Republicans controlled the Senate 1995 to 2000. There is no way a single Republican would have voted for an ultra-liberal Clinton appointee."

Then they shouldn't have been AFRAID to SCHEDULE HEARINGS on those Presidential nominees, & have votes on them... according to you, right?
