Because of my mixed heritage, I am at the same time a 6th or 7th generation Canadian and a third generation Canadian. All my life Quebec has been threatening to separate. When I lived in Montreal in the 60's, Quebec was going to separate. If Quebec wants to separate it is time to let them go. It is time to say to them, let us look at what you will take with you and what you will leave, and Canada will decide what privileges you will have or not have within your new neighbouring nation.
The new nation will be welcome to use Canadian Currency until it can develop it's own or for 10 years only. The Nation of Quebec will have NO INPUT into Canadian Monetary Policy. Quebec nationals may use their Canadian Passports until they expire, but as they expire Quebec will issue their own passports. The nation of Quebec will leave Canada with only those lands which were part of Quebec on the day it entered into Canada. Any lands held in Trust by the Province of Quebec for the Nation of Canada will be returned to Canada. Any Native group which wishes to remain in Canada has the same right to separate from the Nation of Quebec as the Province of Quebec has to separate from Canada, their right to separate will be protected from the Nation of Quebec and their reservations will, if they so decide remain Canadian soil. Upon the day of separation no Resident of Quebec will be allowed to be employed by the National Canadian Government. Quebec will immediately become responsible for all pensions owed to Quebec nationals by the Canadian Government. No company headquartered in Quebec will be considered a Canadian Company. Any company headquartered in Quebec will become a foreign company and treated as such. All railway property inside the new borders of the country of Quebec will be considered the property of the Nation of Quebec. All railway property outside Quebec will become the property of a new National railway. Air Canada will become Air Quebec if it decides to retain it's Quebec Headquarters, and may negotiate with the Canadian Government for landing rights in Canadian Airports, but that right may be withheld by the Canadian Government in favour of any airline headquartered in Canada. No National Canadian Bank may be headquartered in Quebec. All contracts for aid or bank loan guarantees involving the Government of Canada and companies headquartered in the new Nation become null and void on the date of separation and are repayable on the date of separation unless otherwise negotiated. All liabilities become the problem of the Government of Quebec.
Over the first 10 years, travel between Quebec and Canada will slowly become regulated as border crossings are built. As the Border crossings are built and pursuant to negotiations with the Quebec National Government and the Canadian Government free trade may or may not be arranged.

We can arrange the same thing for any other province that decides it wants to try it alone.
