Yes that wars of attrition can be won. I even qualified it by saying winning can just mean that the opposition is defeated (because sometimes you defeat the opposition but would have been better off without the war anyway so in a sense you didn't win)

I made it in response to a very specific statement that there is no way to win such a war of attrition. Not that there was no good way, or no way that we can count on, or even no way that we can win this specific war, but that there was no way to win a war of attrition.
