And they are basically dishonest. Do you notice how very, very carefully they word these charges: "The American military is targeting journalist." Note they never say the military is out to shoot journalist. Just they "target" them.

It works this way. Say a press stinger or a regular journalist is with an insurgent unit. During a fire-fight the US military hits the journalist. Didn't they aim at them when they fired?

So although the press knows full well that its readers will jump to the assumption they mean the military is out hunting journalists, when called on this point their position becomes the inevitable "wait a minute, I've been misunderstood."

Unless you want journalist to wear day-glow jump suits how exactly are the soldiers who "target" them suppose to know their career choices?
