That's a shame.

When I moved to Philadelphia in the late 1980's, the statue
of William Penn on top of city hall was encased in
scaffolding. After several months, I noticed that there was
no work being done on it.

I asked around what was up. I was informed that the city had
twice made funds available to complete restoration of the
statue. The first time the money simply disappeared. The
second time it was all gone once the scaffolding had been
put up.

No one seemed to be the slightest bit concerned about it. I
eventually found out that graft & corruption were commonplace
in Philly (the dem "machine" doncha know). I don't recall any
investigations into the obvious theft of taxpayer funds
either. The money simply evaporated.

They eventually asked the citizens to make donations to
restore the statue. And those idiots dug into their pockets &
paid for it a third time.

It's no wonder libs are "blue" (depressed) & conservatives
are "red" (pissed off at the libs).

:-)
