11 years ago I was told that GM was planning to reduce their marques (sp?) to 3. Chevy, GMC and Cadillac. Certainly has been a long time in coming and the entrenchment in the GM Hierarchy has objected every step away along with the UAW. (He/she was not a GM employee but very well connected in Birmingham auto circles and asked me not to discuss these thoughts but it IS 11 years later.)

The same person that told me this had concerns about the long term effects of leasing and may have had some part in the insurance that I know Lincoln had for a long time guaranteeing the residual value of its cars under lease. Lincoln no longer has this policy and it is going to have to play hardball with cars coming off lease, including mine.

He/she was bitching about the retiree benefits as well. Everything has taken a very long time to come to fruition. Money Penny
