The new stem cell brouhah will hurt reps going forward particularly if bush vetoes coming bill with bipartisan support. The bill allows use of stem cells from embryos that would be trashed otherwise from infertile couples with their permission. Seems rather benign to me but Bush has planted the flag squarely with the religous right. Many pro life republcan folks in the House support this bill. Wonder what Dr. Frist really thinks on this one? Bush said he wouldnt sanction destroying life. Well what the hell is throwing these embryos in the garbage if not that?
