an interview with an economic hitman, is very good too

I sat in on John Perkin's lecture when he visited the University of Michigan last February. He told the story pretty much verbatim as in that online interview. I would say the most telling moment came near the end when a young, female audience member asked him, "How do you sleep at night?"

His response:

"I drink a lot of beer" [smile, awkard audience laughter]
[pause]
It was very awkward, and he soon responded seriously, basically saying that nothing he was doing was illegal and it didn't seem that bad at the time.

He did mention that he was involved with some charitable organizations and the one question I wish I had asked was "What are you doing with the proceeds from your book?"
