Only because I believed that you favored the Democratic use of the filibuster.

I don't favor the use of the filibuster. Once upon a time I used to hate filibusters. I thought they were wasteful and stupid, that the Senate was able to work important issues out more appropriately, and that filibusters were just grandstanding. I am older and wiser now and I still don't like it much and don't really want to see it used. It's still wasteful and it still sidesteps real consensus building. But the Senate seems to have lost its ability to work things out. I would like to see that restored. Extracting the filibuster from the tool kit by brute force is not in the interests in restoring the formerly civilized and evolved culture of the Senate.
