From this, my guess is that the story that a Koran was flushed down a toilet is likely an exaggeration, but it also could very well be true. Newsweek's retraction did not cover the question of whether or not a Koran was flushed, just whether or not an internal military investigation stated that one was.


There are lots of events which maybe happened, and maybe didn't happen, Carl. "Prove to us that the event we just reported DIDN'T happen" is not an adequate standard of journalistic conduct imo. The one who makes the assertion is responsible for supplying the proof.
