VCD has never been just ESS and C-Cube. Winbond, in Taiwan, has been selling chips since the early days, and probably is the supplier of $7 to $8 chips in Taiwan. Oak Tech is now in its second try. SGS was news to me.

The bill of materials is more important than than one component's price. I suspect that a $7 or $8 decoder needs more chips added.

Cube's current ASP for VCD chips is $11. This price is above what I have thought we would see. Demand is accelerating, and pricing seems to have leveled off for now. Cube controls 55% to 60% of the market, from what we can count. But margins will decrease this Q, higher production costs.
