Bush is close to becoming a lame duck. And if Bush, DElay and Frist all become net negatives for GOP congressmen running in 2006, the moderates can take charge.

For instance, if Norm Coleman realizes he'll be a one-termer if he sides with the rightwing, he'll just stop doing it. He is from a fairly liberal state.
