Ish, we are a party to the third Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War. If the other side meets the qualifications to be POWs, they must be treated as such even if their commanding authority is not a party.

And this cuts 2 ways: If you hold to the standards and they do not, they are automatically the bad guys.
