Support for ethanol is much stronger in plains states like Iowa, Nebraska, Dakotas, Kansas and Colorado than Kentucky, Tennesse, South Carolina. Even Michigan and Ohio, where industrial jobs and the overall economy are more important than corn farmers. Need is to avoid states who have a large fraction of the voting population tied this narrow economic issue. The support may be widespread, but it is very deep in Kansas, and pretty shallow in Hawaii...
