Peeling "liberal" and "conservative" back to basics isn't easy. And here all this time I thought it was about a difference in ideology. Who knew? Seriously, I do not get where you're coming from or what axe it is you're grinding. I'm trying, but it isn't sinking in. It sounds like you're arguing that the salient difference between liberal and conservative is that liberals use nuclear options and conservatives are more reserved and patient and statesmanlike. Surely that's not what you're saying, at least not this week. <g> P.S. Not only do I know what federalism means, I understand "immanentize" and "eschaton."
