Children can consent - we simply don't recognize their right to. I'm not advocating making a change in that of course, just as I am not in regard to changing things for gay people, polygamists, parents and children, brothers and sisters, etc. Even some animals can be taught enough language to express consent - Koko the gorilla for example, could consent.
