06:30 SUNW Sun Microsystems tried to partner with H-P - WSJ (3.89 )
According to the WSJ, SUNW CEO Scott McNealy said he tried to forge a partnership with Carly Fiorina, former CEO of H-P, but she turned him down. "She didn't want to partner," Mr. McNealy said during a presentation at a WSJ conference. But he hasn't given up on her successor, Mark Hurd. "I'll call Mark," he said. In a subsequent interview, Mr. McNealy declined to discuss the exchange with Ms. Fiorina in detail, other than to say it happened "a long, long time ago." He made it clear, however, that he remains interested in making a common front against IBM and its huge consulting organization, IBM Global Services. "It's IBM Global Services against the world," he told attendees at the conference known as "D: All Things Digital." |
