Nuke plants is the lesser of several evils. Hydrogen is great, but we still need massive energy to create the hydrogen fuel. So better not to burn fossil fuels to do it. Our air pollution is already bad and we can't let it get worse. In fact, it could get a lot better if we can do away with oil and coal burning almost altogether. Oil should be reserved for making plastics and lubricants. If new nuke plants are much safer than the old, then so long as we can find a way to safely contain nuclear waste (I know, a major problem) then why not? We have not had a nuclear accident since Three Mile Island.
