"It tells us that most people are a lot more willing to send other people to die for a questionable cause and an uncertain result than they are to go and die themselves. "

You know me well and you know how i am tortured over war in general. I dont diagree with the above statement. I have a question for you, UW and others who might want to take it on. Do we really think that even WW2 could be fought today given the current cultural setting in the US today. We have become a self absorbed people unwilling to risk our lives even in a clear just cause while at the same time going off to parties while others do the dying for us. I was racked by this kind of guilt during vietnam--still unsettled in my mind and now we have iraq. Hell i am a low tax guy and a supply sider but forgetting that for a moment in terms of selfiousness how many folks would continue to support the war if they took a wallet hit. mike
