There are parts which are covered and parts which aren't. From the same law (I tried to find if there is a more recent one on the subject), I'll just take the objectives related to Rosia Montana:
Natural Reservations and Monuments: Number Name Locality Surface (ha) 2.8 Piatra Despicata Comuna Rosia Montana 0,20 2.60 Avenul din Hoanca Urzicarului PN-F Comuna Rosia Montana, satul Vartop (1,00) 2.83 Piatra Corbului Comuna Rosia Montana 5,00
Historical monuments of exceptional value - Urban Developments Number Name Locality g)3. Historical centre Comuna Rosia Montana, satul Rosia Montana
Historical monuments of exceptional value - industrial architecture, roads l)1. Roman gold mines Comuna Rosia Montana
Historical monuments of exceptional value - traditional architecture m)2. Houses XVIII-XIX century Comuna Rosia Montana
Rosia Montana is also declared a region with a high concentration of objectives of national interest.
The report is only covering the roman gold mines, l1, (which to my knowledge have not been completely covered) and eventually the historical centre, g3.
The reports submitted by the company aren't complete, and I don't see them starting this project in the near future.
seventh_con, you also claimed that Gabriel has support and approval of the local government, which is not entirely true. Some politicians are approving the project and some aren't. For example, the ex-prime minister (which is currently the head of one of the 2 legislative chambers) was opposed to the project, while the current president was pro (this may give you hope). Fact is that they won't rush into this, because of a series of other factors (notably Hungary which opposes the project).
To answer your last question, I don't have any financial interest in this project, but I do have an interest in the region. I visited Rosia Montana 20 years ago, I was impressed by the whole region and I always hoped to go back there one more time.
I've done some research when I found out about the project just to see what are Gabriel's chances.
Given the high level of corruption in Romania, the project is still possible, but I wouldn't put my money on it (too high risk). |
