China to seek public tenders for wind power plants - report
05.24.2005, 11:49 PM

BEIJING (AFX) - China plans to seek public tenders to build several 1,000 megawatt wind power plants across the country, the China Daily reported.

Citing Zhang Guobao, vice-minister of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the newspaper said the power plants will be built in Jiangsu in the east, Guangdong in the south, Inner Mongolia in the north and Jilin in the northeast.

The report did not give a date for the start of the tendering process.

Last week, the official Xinhua news agency, citing Xu Dingming, director of the energy bureau of the NDRC, said China plans to increase its wind power generating capacity to 4,000 mW by 2010 from the current 760 mW.
