I agree, and the propaganda war is coming from the Bush administration, the Pentagon, the CIA, and the Dept. of Defense. They are losing this war. Survey most people and their leaders in the 200+ countries in the world - and see how many of them buy it - even our closest allies.

The first Gulf War and our involvment in the Middle East - especially by maintaining troops in Saudi Arabia, was a big mistake by the US.

It inflamed the same fanatics that went after the Russians in Afghanistan when they invaded there in the 1980s.

All of the incidents you mention happened after the US involvement in Saudi Arabia. We believed it helped us to stay there - we were wrong.

Now, we compound the mistake by invading and occupying Afghanistan and Iraq. The tide has turned in Iraq against us, the people want us out. Afghanistan wants more control over our troops - it is only a matter of time until they want us out also.

What do we do? Consider upping the ante by maybe going into Syria or Iran? We don't have the troops to do it, so would need a draft.

I am interested in how far Bush is willing to go with this, how many people he is willing to see die in vain - and it is in vain - and how far the American people will allow him to go, before impeaching and removing him so that he can be tried as a war criminal.

Of course, everyone is capable of evil. But I do know there is a propaganda war going on.

The goal is to convince people the use of American power is illegitimate.

One way of doing that is to present US soldiers as sadistic torturers and their commanders, both civilian and military, as fascists who believe in torture as a matter of policy.

Another line of attack is to claim that the use of American power inflames Muslims and endangers us by making them mad at us. The problem here is that prior to Bush's more aggressive use of American power - the destruction of the WTC was attempted first in 1993, the 2nd attempt (911/01) was planned and the operation begun prior to the change Bush made, we had US embassies destroyed in Kenya and Tanzania among other places, Americans were slaughtered by terrorists in the Phillipines, Pakistan, and many other places. The USS Cole was bombed while making a peaceful port call. American servicemen were killed in their barracks in SA where they had been invited to protect the SA's.
