Gartner Inc. raises PC shipment forecast (IT) By Rex Crum
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Technology research firm Gartner Inc. (IT) on Thursday raised its 2005 personal-computer shipment forecast to 202.1 million units, a 10.2% increase over 2004. Gartner had previously forecast PC shipments to rise 9.9 percent, but raised its outlook due to strong sales of mobile computers. The company esitmates that mobile PC sales will rise 26.5% over a year ago, while desktop PC shipment should rise 4.6%.
