That is exactly correct. The rise of a tyrant like George Bush is only possible because so much of the American public is turned off by the political process and has devolved into an entertainment-driven apathy about their own economic condition.

Largely, the American public is cynical and does not believe as so many successful reformers in Latin America do that "Another world is possible".

Latin America is about a decade or possibly one generation ahead of the United States in terms of the consciousness of its general publics. Vastly too many Americans are paying vastly too little attention to the drastic transformations that the U.S. corporations and their handmaidens in government are perpetrating. Neglect of our infrastructure, terrible inflation in the cost of health care and education and aggressive militarism are not natural, nor are they the American values we ought to nurture. They are the imposed plan of some very evil men, out to conquer the planet and exploit Mother Earth's natural resources in one of the most astonishingly grasping and greedy episodes of sloth and hubris ever witnessed.
