"It doesn't matter who votes, it matters who counts the votes." -- Variously attributed to Boss Tweed, Joe Stalin and Karl Rove

In my note to you just above, I made mention of the ability of a good demagogue to rile up a rabid right wing crowd.

In 2004, the Massachusetts Supreme Court inadvertently opened up a floodgate of homophobia which was masterfully exploited by Rove and the Right. I'm sure Bush got an extra few million votes because straight white uptight folks took umbrage at the notion that Jim & Jim might move in next door and try to raise a family.

So, you want to run the most divisive woman on the planet with a black on the Democratic ticket and you expect anything more than what happened when Wally Mondale picked Geraldine Ferraro as a cultural advance? You do recall 1984, right? What did Mondale win? I can't recall. It was either one, or maybe two states. Clinton/Obama would be suicide for the Dems. Trust me on this.
