Peter, Time was--and not too long ago--if people lived in certain areas which were considered unsafe for health care professionals to enter and did not have their own home health care support system in place and a means to care for themselves, they would be denied joint (hip, knee, shoulder) replacement surgery. For all I know, this still could be the case. - Holly
