the sword of Damocles, hanging over the markets. imo it is basically inconceivable that GM's debt mountain will ever be repaid.
thus all depends on their continued ability to 'roll it over'. that has become a lot more difficult since they've been downgraded to junk.
the downgrades have brought it one step closer to chapter 11. various delaying tactics are still available however, like e.g. selling GMAC's mortgage business ( which would be a very shrewd move anyway, considering we're at the top of the biggest real estate bubble in history... ) .

so you're 'dreaming' of the press being 'nationalized'? you want the State to have a monopoly over the news? you should emigrate to North Korea then. then you'd be out of the grip of the "PTB" for sure.
