With throwing knives you have to use enough force so that it will stick but at the same time keep the desired number of revolutions. Additional force results in more revolutions.

So the least force possible to stick is most desirable.

In "Gangs Of New York" they could kill somebody forty feet away by throwing a knife and it would go straight in, but that is literally impossible. You would have to throw it much like a javelin but with less arc, anyone who can do that with considerable force can earn $50m per year pitching for the Yankees.

In truth the worst you can do by throwing a knife at someone is give them a non-threatening cut or injure an eye if you are accurate.

A baseball bat is a better weapon by a magnitude of ten.
