Don't be stunned. Often there is no right answer to a question. Most politicians would have side-stepped the question and changed the subject.

Of course the real answer is probably "no" but Kerry was being hit at the time by the rightwing trying to say he was soft on defense, so he refused to give them more ammo. Also, he had the liberal vote tied up, so why pander to them?
No need. Not one of his best moments I admit but a political reality.

Botomline, let's look foreard, take back congress next year, impeach these bandits then elect a new president much more honest and sensible than Bush. Won't be hard to find.
