The GOP moderates have been treated like crap by Bushies. Used, lied to, bullied, intimidated, smeared (McCain got it almost as bad as the smearvets libeled Kerry) and forced to the right of their morals and ethics. Now Bush is a lame duck. Now Terri Schiavo case has 70% of American distrusting the rightwing congress. Frist and Delay are now goners. Jeb Bush is a goner. Santorum, Norm Coleman and Tom Delay won't get re-elected. delay will probably end up in jail. So why should the GOP moderates side with the rightwing anymore? They've proven themselves wrong. not just over-reaching but just plain corrupt. DC isn't just about parties, it's also about values. I know several GOP moderates in the political game very well. They supported Bush in 2004 but had to BS themselves to do it. They're not BS'ing themselves anymore. They agree they need to take their party back. Even if that means giving up lots of GOP power. Many moderate Repubs care about the environment, are pro-choice and like to do things like smoke pot and save the whales and dolphins. They do not get along with the Bush-Cheney-DElay crowd anymore.
