Dwight; Change your ISP to a 56K one, but keep a minimum account for e-mail at the old ISP and use them only for e-mail. Soon cable tech will rule.
I live in Toronto, and the Roadrunner cable technology is coming in soon. At 10 megabits per second it will be the clear winner. A friend of mine has it in San Diego and even with a good loading on line it is blindingly fast for locally cached pages(which they automatically do, and update for you). When the bottle neck is elsewhere, it is the same old story, the slowest link is what you end up travelling at. But the whole web is getting faster than new signups are eating bandwidth, so the light at the end of the tunnel draws closer and brighter. the last big slowdown was the AOL flatrate debacle, which seems to have passed now. The new tcp/ip switches are speeding everything up quickly. So now we will have video hogging the bandwidth, back to square 1.
