Actually, Tom, I believe the Ask God thread was started as a humorous response to all the self-proclaimed market gurus who populated SI at the time with their Ask <fill in the blank> threads. JakeStraw, who started that thread, was of the opinion we should just skip by all the pseudo-gurus and go straight to The Almighty and ask Him. Unfortunately, the thread's light-hearted intent was lost early on and it quickly deteriorated into dead-serious religious mini-wars. - Holly
