You've gone on in an interesting way and jumped into a discussion of alternative medicine and the difficulties with homeopathy from a scientific understanding. I find all of that very interesting, as well. And much more, I'm sure. I will need to study that link some more in the morning when it is cooler and I am not so tired to fully appreciate your friend's book.

If I knew something was true, I would not say the opposite because it was "dangerous" either. That is not what I was saying. I have been at SI long enough, though, to know how posters who do not consider all the nuances and ramifications of things can take the crack in the door that intellectual honesty leaves for them and drive massive missiles of closedmindedness and even stubborn hatred through it. So I tend after much experience to try to keep things simple. I do not honestly believe that socio-political factors had much to do with removing the disorder classification. I was in college near San Francisco when all this was happening, and moved there right after I graduated, and was a close observer of the entire gay rights movement. I do believe that socio-political factors influenced making homosexuality a psychiatric disorder, however.

I envy you having a fun long weekend! I hope it is very enjoyable!
