John, My opinion is that the difficulties you describe are a result of a complex & tedious tax filing system. You are asking for a reduction in the complexity of the process. I agree with that POV. Flat tax or not has nothing to do with what you described. It is my opinion that if a person makes a buck a year he pays at the same tax rate as a person that makes mega-bucks a year. In the real world this will not happen - too many political shenanigans in place.
