Bill, I thought I just did change my ISP to one with 56K local access, back in early June. This ISP does offer 56K, but it's just out of my local area, which would make it a long distance call. They said they were getting a local access # for 56K "next week" when I signed up, but that was 3 months ago, and they blame US Worst Communications. I paid for a year in advance, but if something doesn't change soon, I'm going to ask for a refund and switch to someone who offers more than promises and excuses.

DK

PS - Oh yes, I would love to have cable internet, but I have studied the cable companies' plans for rolling this out, and I was less than impressed -- meaning the cable cos are simply not real interested in getting serious about widespread deployment of internet access. The cable cos have been futzing around doing "test marketing" in a handful of very large metro areas for over a year now, and I don't see anything changing on that front near term. But hey, if you can get it, great!
