McCain's Siberian Plans

McCain Foods of Canada, the world's biggest maker of frozen French fries, may invest as much as $100 million to process potatoes in the oil-rich Tyumen region, Interfax reported.

McCain executive Tony van Leersum met with Tyumen Governor Sergei Sobyanin on Thursday to discuss starting production in the Siberian region, the governor's office said in a statement, Interfax reported.

Tyumen's property fund will auction off the Yalutorovsky Potato Products Plant in July, the news service reported, without saying whether McCain would bid for it or build its own plant.
