I see the point, Mike, save for the context of this one. The guy is very critical of Rumsfeld; there is an obvious sense, often reported on, that the civilian portion of the dod is highly politicized such that to criticize Rumsfeld and/or his minions is to place one's career in serious jeapordy. And then this protest is joined by a great many officers, with the telling comment from Jay Garner.

For me the telling point is precisely the one Josh Marshall underlines--the contrast between this guy and those two intelligence analysts who got the tubing analysis wrong but got rewarded.

Not good practice; definitely not good PR.
