I cannot possibly answer your post completely, J.C. There are two many different topics within it. I guess I could start to answer it, though, by pointing out that you have made your feelings towards homosexuals perfectly clear here before. So when you started talking about the APA classification change, your bias on the subject was already in my head. You are correct in saying that your first statement did not say anything against homosexuals per se.
That link you posted is nothing but a hate link. Here it is again, in case anyone wants to look at it:

I hope this is not the kind of misinformation (at the very least) that you rely on to form your opinions about homosexuals. Aside with subtly tying implying that homosexuals are pedophiles, I find it a really disturbing place. For the record, homosexuals are not really becoming heterosexual. Some of them may abstain from homosexual sex, al though there has been a lot of backsliding among the ones I have read about. But they do not really become heterosexual.
If you believe sincerely that people can change like that, I am suspecting you have some religious objection to homosexuals. But when you talk about venereal diseases as being diseases homosexuals are responsible for bringing back--gonorrhea and syphilis--these diseases were never thought to be conquered, and they are prevalent in sexually active people who are heterosexual as well. It is promiscuity, not sexual orientation, that causes this problem.
When you say you disapprove of the behavior of this group, that is what I would label as bigotry. Besides having your facts wrong and reading hate literature about homosexuals, it is bigotry when you express it here. There are homosexuals who read Feelies! I think it is inconsiderate at best to say a lot of things about homosexuals that are not true in a public forum. Bigotry and prejudice may be strong words, but defnititely you are prejudiced against homosexuals--every post you write about them expresses this in some sense. How would you define bigotry and prejudice in a way that did not include your feelings about homosexuals?
As far as your discriminating, I cannot prove that you do. I can certainly assert that when you create a group and say you disapprove of the behavior of this group, it is possible that you are discriminating. What concerns me more is that you lump a population of totally dissimilar people who are just like everyone else in almost every way, and define them totally by their sexual identity. I don't understand why you do that. Perhaps if you could explain, we could have a more productive discussion. |
