Many things are in the eye of the beholder... too many issues, too little time. I will only comment on one thing.

The fact that Newsweek reported/retracted what was - apparently - a libelous accusation against the US military has nothing to do with freedom of press. Maybe their action was related to having a certain bias, maybe not... but in any case, it was incompetent and irresponsible. One can expect this from a cheap gossip piece of garbage, but not from a paper that is one of the flagships of Western media.

Unfortunately, in the case of Newsweek the difference is becoming blurred.
