"squander our global goodwill" Are you sure there was all that good will in the first place? When the world is with us, as it was in Desert Storm, we can do amazing things. Yeah, in that case, we left a tyrant in power because of "world opinion" - many Shiites in Iraq lost their lives because of that and world opinion didn't give a damn. Just like it doesn't over the 180,000 dead Darfur residents and 2 million refugees. We have removed two extremely evil regimes - the Taliban's and Saddam's - pointless? I don't think so.
