The detainees definitely have first hand experience, and while some of them may tell things that aren't true, not all of them will.
Yeah, and the reports that get printed will be the most spectacular ones. The most likely to be lies.

The new set of photos that a federal judge ordered released should be very interesting, unless the government gets them stopped on appeal, of course.
Now just how much success has the fed gov't had at censorship in this country, ferchrissakes? They can't stop classified information from being published in most cases!

I disagree that context is always an essential ingredient of understanding.
Say what?

You have a photo of a soldier using a chokehold on a prisoner. Now just before that, the prisoner had attacked the soldier. You leave that out. Because it doesn't count.
