Re: Drugs, Oil and War: The United States in Afghanistan, Colombia and Indochina by Professor Peter Dale Scott (2003.) Have you read this one and is it a good read?

I have not. I do have the greatest admiration for Peter Dale Scott's work. His website holds a plethora of items well worth pursuing:

ist-socrates.berkeley.edu

You can read the preface and an excerpt on the deep politics of U.S. foreign policy on the website.

Additionally to Scott's excellent work, you should consider the new book by Webster Tarpley, "9/11 Synthetic Terror: Made in America". Tarpley also does an excellent job of sorting out the players in the machinations of our secret government.

A third public intellectual in the same league as Scott and Tarpley is Ralph Schoenman who, along with his wife, hosts the Taking Aim program on WBAI. I'm not aware of much of Schoenman's oeurve being in print. The radio programs are worth considering if you have the inclination and perhaps a handy .mp3 player:

One of the best books on imperial machinations that I've read in the past year has been Larry Everest's "Oil, Power and Empire"
