I somehow fail to understand the relevance of "woman" and "black" in deciding on a President of the US.

Countries like India : Indira Gandhi, Israel : Golda Meir, New Zealand : Helen Clarke, Sri Lanka : Srimavo Bandaranaike, have all had elected female heads of government without much fuss or attention paid to the gender or the skin color.
