Emcore Corp. buys JDS Uniphase's analog CATV business By Susan Lerner NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Emcore Corp. (EMKR) said Tuesday it acquired the analog cable TV and radio frequency over fiber specialty businesses from JDS Uniphase Corp. (JDSU) for $1.5 million. Emcore also agreed to buy between $2.8 million and $3.8 million of components and parts over the next two years for use in the manufacture of the acquired products. Emcore also will assume some open purchase orders for inventory components and pay JDS Uniphase a royalty on licensed intellectual property. Emcore expects the deal will increase fiscal 2006 revenue by $10 million to $15 million. The two companies also reached a bilateral "preferred supplier" commercial agreement under which they will supply each other with various optical components.
