Even though I did, and still do, believe we made a huge mistake when we started this war, we are there now, and the constant bombardment of how many are dying, and what a mess it is, grates on me. I don't see it as helpful.
Rambi, thanks for a breath of fresh air. If I weren't an honest mathematician, I would agree with you 1,000 percent. But as it is, I'm limited to 100%.
Just ask yourself what the public perception would have been if, say, we had had live up-to-the-minute coverage of D-day, with thousands of American boys being shot to death on the beach on live TV, or the bombing of Dresden with tens of thousands of people burning to death in front of our eyes as we ate our Domino's pizza in front of the TV, or of the landing on Guadalcanal. Would Americans have supported the war if they had seen the first twenty minutes of "The Saving of Private Ryan" day after day after day on live TV?
