I'm not quite clear what the difference is between SIA and WSTS but where ever you look the revisions are upwards and IMHO is based on a strong baseline. Also the memory segment ("next leg down") is not going to hell in a bucket - stay tuned for some Fitz comments

NAND flash and DRAM will be in short supply in the fourth quarter of 2005, according to forecasts from market research company Gartner.
In a forum on the semiconductor market held in Taipei yesterday, Andrew Norwood, a Gartner Research vice president said that it is a rare occurrence for both types of memory products to fall short of demand at the same time.
According to Gartner, first-quarter over-supply in the DRAM segment was 3%, and a balance between supply and demand is expected to come in the third quarter. There will be a 1% supply shortage in the fourth quarter.
With NAND flash in short supply in the first quarter of this year, DRAM makers began shifting more of their capacity to the production of NAND flash this quarter. The increased NAND flash output will result in a 1.5% over-supply in the second quarter, and 2% in the third, according to Gartner.
However, NAND flash supply will fall short of demand by 3% in the fourth quarter, as DRAM makers will shift part of their NAND flash capacity to DDR2, Gartner predicted. Related stories
