there are several tested methods (some partially still under technical development) for extracting and refining Canadian bitumen which require NO natural gas. If NG becomes scarce and/or expensive, then alternative methods are available and will be used. Extracting the stuff will still require enormous amounts of energy. What energy source(s) will these methods use, and do these methods have EROEI ratios comparable to that of producing bitumen with NG? If these alternative extraction/refining methods ultimately rely on fossil fuels, then we have a problem... Jesse
