You know, there needs to be some balance in all of our criticism. Bush and Cheney deserve alot of criticism, no doubt. But there are a lot of things wrong with the Middle East that have nothing to do with Bush or Cheney.

For instance, the Middle East Muslims are all up in arms that some U.S. soldiers flushed some Qurans. So they go and riot and kill some of their fellow Muslims in protest. This despite the fact that Saudi Arabian religious police routinely confiscate and destroy any Christian Bibles they find in the Kingdom. In addition, on any given day there is a Christian who is on trial in a Muslim country for trying to convert Muslims to Christianity...and the penalty is death if they are convicted. It would seem from their behavior that Muslims value a book over human life. So much for "Allah the merciful".

We spend so much time being apologists for the Middle East Muslims, that we seem to be ignoring the fact that Islam and Middle East Muslims need to do some serious introspection and see if they are really part of a culture that can leap into the modern world. Or are they a religion and culture that is doomed to implode and continue to fall behind as all of the world's other religions embrace modernity and find a way to advance themselves and their religion?
